The island has a family side (Iguana) and an adults only side (Flamingo) which is where the famous flamingos come out. The ride to the island is about 3 minutes. The ferry to the island is a less than 10 minute walk from the hotel lobby. We are already talking about a return to this magical place. You can't go wrong with any of the food and drink offerings either at the restaurant on the island or the fish shack grill. I know it's vacation but you can get up once right? Take quarters with you because the flamingo food dispenser takes quarters. This is also the most likely time that the flamingos will eat out of your hand. Take the first boat over to the island at 7AM if you want the best photo opps. His positive energy just shines and is contagious! Now for tips. Ludwig is a perfect example of the islands motto One Happy Island. He was friendly and told me about a great nearby attraction which we say. Robert who helped us check in to cabana for the day was wonderful. She had great restaurant recommendations for us to try in area. Margareth often wears a different colored flower in her hair and is so friendly.

She was amazing from her different flamingo socks every day to her sparkling personality. I have start with Sugelry or "Sugar" which she goes by. It is obvious they enjoy their job and it shows. I can't express how much these folks care about their guests. My wife and I spent a week at the Renaissance Ocean Suites and went to the island every day.

Renaissance Island is a wonderful experience in so many ways! Even with all of its beauty and ways to enjoy it is important to start with the staff. We relaxed on the beach, swam, snorkeled, and fed the flamingos. There is a nice open air restaurant where we had breakfast. Children are only allowed there at specific times. The flamingos wander around and you can feed them food from a machine that costs a quarter. There are lots of chairs and umbrellas on both beaches. The family beach is much larger and spread out. There are 2 beaches one for families, and one for adults only, which is where the flamingos are. At the island you can get towels, chairs, floats, snorkel gear, sand toys, etc. We were taken to the island by a water taxi, which runs back and forth from the hotel on a regular basis.

Hotel guests can visit the island free of charge, but other visitors can purchase a day pass. We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for 1 night before moving to our timeshare for the week. I had heard good things about Renaissance Island, so when we went to Aruba, we decided to check it out.
